I would like to thank Wednesday Journal for their articles regarding the Village of River Forest’s upcoming municipal election in April 2013.
I am a candidate for president of the board of the Village of River Forest if John Rigas decides not to run.
I have announced my candidacy for president because I am passionate about “Continuing the Progress” our current board and administration have worked so hard to set in place.
This board and administration have balanced a budget under extremely difficult economic times while improving and streamlining constituent services. I wish our state government officials would adopt our fiscally prudent practices!
Secondly, I believe we need to continue the progress and strengthen our economic development plan that will be sustainable and less reliant on residential property taxes. We need an appropriate commercial and non-residential property tax plan and policy that will contribute to maintaining our constituent services.
Third, I want to continue the progress we have made in establishing intergovernmental relationships. I want to create a clear intergovernmental policy for the Village of River Forest. We need to further cooperate with our surrounding communities that share the same values as River Forest such as running an efficient and prudent government. We need to also ensure that River Forest is getting their fair return on their tax dollars that go to the state, federal and county governments.
I am committed and excited to “Continue the Progress” we have all worked so hard to achieve.
