Johnson house still needs work
Frank Johnson said Wednesday Journal’s article “put some fires under people’s feet” in getting the work on his home finished. Since the article ran, the village has approved a list of about 25 items that the project’s second contractor agreed to fix.
“The major items I was concerned about are being addressed,” Johnson said.
Remaining work includes installing gutters and downspouts, storm doors, tiling and drywall in one part of the basement, and various finishing touches.
Maze to open in June
Books will return to shelves in mid-May at the Maze Branch Library, 845 Gunderson Ave. After all of the furniture and computers are moved in and staff spends a few days training, the library will quietly open its doors, said Jim Madigan, assistant library director.
A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, June 3.
