Who does State Sen. Don Harmon help anyway? He sent literature to all the homes in Oak Park referring to Tony Peraica as a “Bush Republican” and urging them to vote for Todd Stroger. Oak Park is 87 percent Democratic, yet Tony Peraica got nearly 60 percent of the Oak Park votes. Precinct by precinct examination shows that the precincts in Oak Park that Stroger won by a big margin are on the east side and along Washington Boulevard.
What does Oak Park get for Don Harmon’s supporting Stroger, Ald. Carothers, State Rep. Graham, Ald. Beavers, and the rest of the Chicago group? They certainly don’t help us out. My question is, who does Don Harmon represent? Does he help keep our businesses from leaving town? Does he get the $1 million we need for more police help that Oak Parkers are going to have to pay due to West Side criminals?
He sponsors a law requiring everyone all of a sudden to spend a couple hundred dollars for carbon monoxide detectors (not needed if you get an annual furnace and hot water heater checkup!) and makes sure that there’s going to be a state fund available so that “poor” people can get it for free? Why doesn’t Don Harmon (Democrat from Oak Park) represent our interests?
