Virtually of the hospital’s neighbors understand the need to expand and update the ER. What is galling about the hospital’s conduct-and what is noticeably absent from Wednesday Journal’s editorial [West Sub vs. the graystone, Our Views, Jan. 10], is that this “raggedy greystone” which has been “abandoned for a decade,” and “sits in the middle of a vacant lot,” is in that condition because of the hospital’s own neglect. The hospital has owned and neglected the building for years, and rapidly tore down its neighbors before they could be protected, yet now the hospital and this paper claim that very neglect as an excuse to tear the building down. Do you have no shame?
