To the editor of Wednesday Journal:
On behalf of the Friends of the Oak Park Conservatory, I am writing with regard to the full page ad captioned “Save the Marion Street Mall” and containing the “Vision Community Action” party’s logo on page 13 of your April 11 edition.
In the line describing those who paid for the ad, it is easily inferred that the Friends support the VCA slate. May I make it abundantly clear that our organization in no way supports, has supported, or ever will support, any political candidate or slate financially or in any other way. In fact, to do so would put our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in jeopardy.
We appreciate the opportunity to clarify our position.
