The $600 per month automobile allowance for the new OPRF superintendent is an outrage and a disgrace. Not only is such an allowance wholly unnecessary, but also anyone who spends that much on an automobile is contributing more than their fair share of carbon dioxide emissions to the environment and thus contributing more than they should to global warming. The high school is supposed to be an “educational” institution, and that entails the faculty and administration setting a good example to the students and the community at large. District 200 should not be encouraging Attila Weninger to neglect the duty to set such an example.
