OPRF basketball star Iman Shumpert traveled to Atlanta with his parents over the weekend to visit Georgia Tech, one of three colleges the Division I recruit has on his radar. According to his father, Odis Shumpert, Iman enjoyed his visit with the Yellow Jackets.
“Everything went great,” Odis Shumpert said. “Iman spent some time with the coaches and the team, sat in on a class, visited the athletic facilities and checked out the campus.”
In a few weeks, Shumpert is planning an official visit to Marquette, which will be his final recruiting trip. Shumpert, ranked 15th in his class by scout.com, will likely make his decision on a college before the OPRF basketball season.
“I don’t feel pressure going somewhere because of a certain thing,” Shumpert said in an interview posted at InsideCarolina.com. “I feel like if it’s not going to be the best fit and I’m not going to be happy at the school then I’m not going to go there. I want something that will set me up academically. The school has to be a school that, after I’m done with my degree, will take me somewhere.”
The University of North Carolina is still conducting its own review of Shumpert’s well-publicized visit to the school nearly two weeks ago. The university is trying to determine if any NCAA rules were broken.
