Two other violent street robberies occurred last week. An Oak Park man was confronted by two youths just after walking out of his home on the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard, the evening of Jan. 13. They punched him in the head and the mouth and demanded his wallet, but he managed to run back into his home.
Early the next night on the 600 block of Lake Street, a man was approached by 6-8 youths, two of whom punched him in the face. One stole an iPod from the man’s pocket, and the group ran off, but one of the youths returned and took the man’s wallet and $50. Detective Commander Clemet Harbour said police have a suspect in that attack, and are continuing to investigate.

The afternoon of Jan. 11, two men approached an Oak Park woman on the 1100 block of Madison, implied they had a gun and took her cellphone and $210.

Police arrested Darell Willis, 28, of Chicago, Jan. 7, after he was identified as the person who allegedly grabbed an Oak Park woman and took her laptop computer and a wallet.

A woman was knocked down by two men on the 200 block of Forest Avenue, the night of Jan. 3, threatened her with a large stick and robbed her of her purse.

Two young men who implied they had a gun, robbed a man on the 800 block of South Grove Avenue around 2 a.m., Jan. 1.

Three teens robbed an Oak Park juvenile of $5 on the 1000 block of Lake Street on Dec. 27.

An Oak Park woman was knocked unconscious during a robbery outside her residence on the 100 block of Forest Avenue, the afternoon of Dec. 15. She lost her wallet.

The night of Nov. 26, two teens approached a man on the 700 block of North Taylor Avenue, displayed a handgun and demanded money. When the man assumed a fighting stance, the second thief told the gunman to shoot the man, but then stepped up and punched the man in the head before both ran off empty-handed.
