Venturi effect? Maybe it is because trash containers don’t get emptied before they reach critical mass? [A theory on litter, Ken Trainor’s Blog, April 24]
The semi-open top garbage containers in the city don’t seem to have this problem, in my observations. Of course Mayor Daley could have them emptied daily. If this were not a village-wide problem, one might think that Wednesday Journal is trying to cut down on its trash collection bill. One would have to witness a dumping of the bins. Wednesday Journal wouldn’t do that (fill the first half of the bins with newsprint and office waste), would it? Of course, I am joking. Since this is village-wide, what does David Pope have to say about Ken’s blog?
Go to the trash container in front of Walgreen’s on Madison, which is a real doozy. That one may be private, though. It doesn’t look like an Oak Park refuse container.
Oh don’t blame the budget cuts, readers; this is an ongoing condition.
