Best of luck to Vernicia Elie who will compete in the Miss Illinois contest this weekend. Vernicia, a 2002 graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School, is the daughter of Adilia Elie, a teller at Community Bank of Oak Park-River Forest. The Elies moved to Oak Park from Trinidad.
There is a precedent here. The parents of Marjorie Judith Vincent, Miss America 1991 and fellow OPRF alumna, came to Oak Park from Haiti.
