Officer Troy Fields tries out a bike obstacle course in the parking lot of the River Forest Library on Saturday afternoon at the first Ryan M. Fitch Bike Safety Event. More than 80 attended the event, 20 bikes were registered with the River Forest Police Department, and one lucky 4-year-old boy won a $300 gift certificate to Barnard’s Schwinn bicycles in Oak Park. Fitch, who organized the event after he was hit by a car while riding his bike, hopes to hold the event for many more years.
