Well, it can be said that I am blessed with a cache of lovely jewelry. It’s true, I am no stranger to gorgeous gems, but when it comes to what I treasure most, it’s the one of a kind pieces I find everywhere I go.
Which brings me to my Style tip of the week: a variety of jewelry at the Careful Peach boutique in Oak Park; a beautiful, French focused shop and much needed anecdote to the dull-drums of January. With an array of vintage & contemporary styles, and stones in bold turquoises, corals, and earthy tones, each piece of jewelry is unique and dazzles. An Art Institute grad, owner Karen Morava, originally started selling her painted bowls in a Harrison street Gallery space. Soon after, her limited edition, vintage giftware & table art had become so sought after, a permanent retail space was established.
Immediately, I zero in on the nature inspired and natural stone rings, and earrings: takes me back to my childhood growing up in Portland, Oregon when I would collect rocks & thunder eggs on family camping trips. I was going to be a geologist! The earthy ‘Roost’ pendants & rings are each unique – ‘Drusy’ style geode gem stone, set in gold vermeil, $ 60. – $195. What is not to admire of the whimsical artistry of Michael Michaud. His hand patina cast bronze pieces are inspired by plants, such as the Strawberry earrings with garnet & seed pearl; or the ginko tired earrings & cuff, starting at $55. I give in and buy the Gold Cicada earrings for $50.;the insect jewelry looks so life-like, my little Boys want to play with them.
“Discrete luxuries” is what Manager, Jessie Austin says about the product mix that includes: perfumes, candles, bath & body products. Careful Peach is centrally located on North Boulevard, however, I truly feel as though I’ve popped into a quaint, Parisian boutique; lovely gifts and a transportive shopping experience!
