It is a modest but worthy undertaking. The Huskie Huddle: an occasional session for students at Oak Park and River Forest High School to sit with Principal Nathaniel Rouse and talk about issues related to the school. Most recently, the talk was post-Newtown and how school safety is addressed at OPRF. That session drew 20 students.

The more students at this school are drawn into conversation, the more they can be part of addressing issues at our high school. Rouse’s instinct to keep his door open to students, to seek out their perspective, is a healthy one.
