For well over a year, the River Forest District 90 elementary schools have been pushing for major changes to the exterior spaces at Roosevelt Middle School, 7560 Oak St. In planning to notably reduce the parking spaces on a site shared with the adjacent library and park, the schools have inevitably drawn sincere objections. Now it becomes clear that local zoning prohibits D90 from making this change without a thorough review by the Development Review Board.
Time for the school district to acknowledge this situation and start this process over in a more collaborative fashion.
