Paul Jerome Stoch, 63, of Oak Park, died on Jan. 8, 2015. Born on April 18, 1952, he was the son of Matt and Lillian Stoch. He married Kathy (Draus) in 1979 and was the proud father of his son, Mark, who is also an educator looking to follow his parents’ service to community and dedication to education.
Mr. Stoch was an alumnus of Taft High School in Chicago and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a B.A. in Art Education. He earned master’s degrees in Studio Art-Sculpture and Educational Administration, both from Northern Illinois University. A committed K-12 educator serving students and families for 35 years, he was dedicated to his community and retired from Holmes School in Oak Park, where he resided for many years. He was also a leader in the Oak Park Teachers Association.
Paul Stoch is survived by his wife, Kathy; his son, Mark; his siblings, Joyce (Ciesco), Diane (Roberto) and Mathew; and many nieces and nephews.
It was Paul’s wish to have a Celebration of Life luncheon, which will take place at Skylite West Banquets, 7117 Ogden Ave. in Berwyn on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 5 p.m. with food being served at 2 p.m.
A scholarship supporting students and teachers who pursue art education has been created, honoring his outstanding service. The family requests donations be submitted to the Oak Park Teachers Association, 970 Madison St. in Oak Park 60302, in lieu of gifts or flowers.
