If you’re looking for sustenance after “exercising your franchise” as they used to say  (i.e. voting), Marion Street Market, 100 S. Marion St., has reopened. Formerly known as the Marion Street Cheese Market (which opened in 2008), the new and improved version re-opened this week, according to the restaurant’s press release, “boasting a new social atmosphere, tasting tables, grab-and-go items, plus brunch, lunch and dinner menus with an emphasis on local vendors and farmers.” They also boast new ownership with Grant Slauterbeck, formerly with One North Kitchen & Bar, Keefers, D.O.C. Wine Bar, Glenview House and The Iron Horse Hotel; and currently the CEO of GCC Chicagoland.

“Chef de Cuisines Bret Bohning and Onam Luvianos will stay true to Oak Park residents’ favorite dishes while they’ve added healthful options and new high-quality culinary creations such as prime steaks to the menu. The chefs will continue to use ingredients and produce across the menu from neighboring farms including Urban Till, Nichols Farm, Swan Creek and many more,” according to the release.

The restaurant closed on New Year’s Day and re-opened on Monday, March 7.
