Why did you decide to run as a write-in candidate instead of filing nominating petitions? Why are you interested in the position?
Cook County has a full funded election process. It is unfair to the process as well as the people of River Forest for a position to be appointed vs. elected. The Village Clerk position will allow me to participate in the process of Government in River Forest. Although not a voting position, the exposure is invaluable.
What is your understanding of the role of the village clerk and what do you feel is the most important aspect of that role?
Village Clerk is the keeper of the village’s documents, recorder of the board meetings, the one person who should always be in attendance of the meetings.
The most important aspect is communicating with everyone throughout River Forest.
To what extent should the clerk participate in the discussion of issues being considered by the village board?
As a non voting elected official, the clerk should observe board meetings as well as inform board members and the public in attendance of the rules and regulations regarding the subject discussed and how it will be discussed
Are there any services the clerk’s office should offer that aren’t being offered now?
The clerk should have the responsibility to the public to provide a non-biased explanation of current issues before the board on a regular basis
What would be your priorities as village clerk and how would you accomplish meeting those goals?
Keep accurate records, maintain transparency, and keep open lines of communication with the public as well as other village agencies.
