I am concerned about the design of recently streetscaped parallel parking sections in our village. I am not sure what the designers were thinking when they put a 45 degree angle curb at each end of these sections, but it seems to invite the misuse of those spaces. Drivers seeing what looks like an angled parking space, leave their vehicles with half the car obstructing the flow of traffic. If these 45 degree curbs were changed to 90 degree curbs at each end, the village would actually increase legal spaces by one for every section of parallel parking. If I counted correctly, I believe that would be at least 12 more spaces in the Lake and Marion shopping district alone.
