I am trying to learn
to turn from the raging firestorm,
toward the work to be done.
His words will be vulgar, or ignorant.
Usually both.
We know this.
They will burn hot flames in your ears.
They will scorch blind your eyes.
Turn away.
Turn toward the work.
Turn toward your hands, your feet, your body, your heart.
Turn toward your Love,
that shelters and protects and feeds,
that holds close your beautiful soul,
that, too,
burns.
