Wednesday Journal correctly pointed out last month that the unfortunate layoffs of five Oak Park firefighters were financially necessary. [The story is pensions, not firefighters, Our Views, Sept. 30] It also alluded to an increasing burden on the men and women who remain on duty, as well as the increasing burden taxpayers must bear for pension costs.
